There is a saying in India, na bhuto na bhavishyati, an event marked by divinity that is utterly unique and special to the world. Na bhuto na bhavishyati implies an extraordinary event that has never before been witnessed by man and is not expected to happen again for many years, decades, or centuries. The world famous Radha Rani Rath Yatra at Radha Madhav Dham could be understood from this perspective. Attending the Radha Rani Rath Yatra at Radha Madhav Dham is an important annual tradition that every devotee aims to attend at least once in their lifetime. All of the modern-day, great mahatmas of the Radha Krishna tradition who preach in the United States are in attendance.

Nothing could be verbalized about the Rath Yatra at Radha Madhav Dham. It is the most blissful, most ecstatic, most thrilling event of your entire life. Walking along the procession route, you are filled with so much happiness and pride. When I was a kid, my father had made it an annual tradition to take me to the Radha Rani Rath Yatra at Radha Madhav Dham. We were not that well off, so in fact, I would work part time in the Summer months just so I could afford the plane ride from Ireland to Radha Madhav Dham in Austin, Texas, USA for Sharat Poornima, when the Radha Rani Rath Yatra used to take place.

The details of this story are a bit hazy as it was quite long ago. Sometime around 2000, something remarkable happened. There used to be 2 Rath Yatras: One for devotees and one for general public. The devotees' one was much more elevated and ecstatic. An elderly mahatma of the temple used to preside over the celebration. When the intoxicating effect of Radha Rani's love had surpassed all it's limit, the mahatma would sometimes collapse, only to be caught by surrounding devotees. Sometimes he would be seated in the Rath for part of the celebration, and sometimes he would watch from the balcony of the Shree Raseshwari Radha Rani temple

On this particular occasion, while standing on the balcony, it was noticed that there was a girl standing next to him. There was something unusual and mystical and somewhat familiar about her, and she had a look about her like someone would look curiously out the door of their home to see what was happening. No one ever saw her before that or ever again afterwards. She stood out, though there was a slight shadow on her. The age would have been around 12. After the celebration, when one or two people were briefly discussing afterwards, it transpired that someone else saw a man standing next to the mahatma, in the place where some other had seen a girl.

The conclusion was unspoken, but it can be guessed that it was Radha Rani herself, watching down on Her own Rath Yatra at Radha Madhav Dham; watching her own devotees at the Rath, as it had rested in a spot within view of the balcony of the upper area of the temple. Someone saw her as a girl, as Radha Rani; other saw her as a male figure, Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj. This was a few years before Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj ever physically set foot in America during his landmark world tours of 2005 and 2007.

The Radha Rani Rath Yatra used to take place around Sharat Poornima, but now it takes near Guru Poornima. The Annual Rath Yatra 2014 will take place on Sunday July 6th 2014. Radha Madhav Dham cordially invites us all to attend. It is an occasion that every serious devotee of Radha Krishna should attend.
