Janmashtmi will be celebrated on the 9th of Aug in Bhakti Dham, Mangarh.

Here are some highlights of an historic Krishna Janmashtami discourse of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, given at Rangeeli Mahal Barsana Dham in 2002. Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj clarifies the meaning of one of the most popular Hindu festivals: Shree Krishna Janmashtmi. In it, he explains all the topics related to the avatar or appearance of supreme God, Krishn, 5,000 years ago on our earth planet. Shree Maharajji explains Who is Shree Krishn, how the souls are eternally related to Him, how He appears (the secret of His appearance), and why He appears, as well as the important topic of how the souls can attain Him. This is the true meaning of Janmashtami.

What is Janmashtami and how is it celebrated?

Janmashtami is the appearance day of Bhagwan Krishna. He appeared at midnight of the eighth waning moon which falls in August/September. This is one of the greatest celebrations of the Hindu community which is observed throughout India. In the Temples devotees sing and chant the glories and the leelas of Krishna up to midnight. Then they do arti of Krishna and distribute prasad. In Vrindaban there are a number of professional groups who enact the leelas of Radha Krishna on the open stage. In previous years, the stage of the Satsang Hall of Shyama Shyam Dham, Vrindavan, was specially displayed with the childhood events of Krishna and great crowds would come to have its darshan.

At Rangeeli Mahal, Barsana, in the elaborately decorated Satsang Hall, Krishna Janmashtami would be enthusiastically celebrated by thousands of devotees. A lovely cradle of baby Krishna would be lovingly placed in the Satang Hall, everyone having the opportunity to have darshan and swing the Divine child. Throughout the day and up to midnight, devotional programs would be arranged which included one act plays and dances related to Radha Krishn leelas. Chanting of Krishn leelas and the pad of His appearance, special arti of baby Krishna and Shree Maharajji’s speech, explaining the importance of Janmashtmi in a devotee’s life, have always been highlights of the celebration. On Krishna Janmashtami, Shree Kripaluji Maharaj himself does the arti of Shree Krishn.
