Divali 2011 with Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj
Divali, also called Deepavali and Diwali, is the festival of lights. The spiritual significance of Divali is to enlighten your heart with the flame of Radha Krishn love and remove the darkness of worldliness. The word ‘deepavali’ literally means ‘rows of candles.’ Divali is celebrated about 20 days after Dashehra which falls in October-November. This festival commemorates Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya after completing His 14-year exile.

To celebrate the occasion, people light oil lamps in and around their house and set off firecrackers. People paint and clean their homes, buy new clothes and distribute sweets to their relatives and friends. That's the social festival. The spiritual festival has a very deep meaning as you can read in the next post.

Divali festivities at Mangarh attract devotees from all over India and the world. The Satsang Hall and ashram buildings are lavishly decorated with sparkling lights. In the early morning Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj leads a parikrama chanting with thousands of devotees. Special pad kirtans associated with Divali festival are sung. Shree Maharajji Graces the audience with his Divine discourse and all the devotees receive prasad (sweets). In the evening there is a colorful fireworks display. The Grace that devotees experience at this most auspicious time is further magnified because it is also the day that we celebrate the birthday of our beloved Divine mother, Ammaji.

At Radha Madhav Dham, USA, this joyous spiritual event is celebrated by beginning with dinner prasad followed by chanting of Divali pads in the enlightened Temple. After a discourse that reveals the spiritual significance of Divali, darshan of the Deities is had in the main Shrine which is also specially decorated with lights. Following arti and homage to Radha and Krishn, everyone proceeds outside for fireworks and raas garba (lively devotional dancing) with live music by Sur Sangam on the delightfully lit Maharas Mandal.

There will be new highlights this year at JKP Radha Madhav Dham, Austin, USA. There will be a spectacular Laser Light Show in the back of the Temple at 9:00 pm, which is sure to enthrall and amaze everyone. In addition, Radha Madhav Dham is offering special devotional opportunities just for Divali. They will have a Sita Ram Abhishek near the Shiv Shrine. A Hindu pujari will perform the ceremony at a beautifully decorated shrine. Everyone is invited to do the Abhishek pooja (for a donation of 21 dollars or more per family) and receive Panchamrit. Swami Mukundananda, senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, will deliver a special Divali discourse.
